EMH 301 - Disaster Planning and Preparedness


3 Credits

This course will introduce the student to federal disaster planning and preparedness guidance, including Presidential Policy Directive 8 (PPD-8), the National Preparedness Goal, and the National Preparedness System. The course will incorporate the whole community approach to disaster planning and preparedness, including considerations for access and functional needs populations and other vulnerable groups. The course will explore how to best prepare a community for potential or pending disasters, including the planning process and development of an emergency operations plan.
Prerequisites: EMH 101 .
