CHS 495V - Simulated Field Experience Capstone

3 Credits

This culminating course for the Bachelor of Science in Child Studies provides an opportunity to reinforce and expand on the knowledge, competencies, and skills developed throughout the degree program with attention to each of the six Early Childhood Education Higher Education Standards (NAEYC, 2021). This course provides the opportunity to virtually visit early childhood classrooms around the country and the world. Students will observe and reflect upon early childhood professionals demonstrating and discussing relevant topics. Course content includes physical, cognitive, language, and literacy; psychosocial development; advancing equity; supporting diverse populations; building family and community relationships; exploring trends in the field; transmitting values; collaborating with colleagues; and applying professional standards of ethical conduct. This course is an alternative to CHS495 Field Experience Capstone; students may earn credit for either CHS495 or CHS495V but not both.
Prerequisites: All other required Child Studies courses.
