CHS 395 - Intermediate Practicum


3 Credits

This course includes a seminar and 100 hours of supervised fieldwork in an approved, self-selected, early childhood setting. Some of the topics included in the seminar portion of the course are teaching as a professional commitment, observing, assessing, and guiding children's behavior. Issues and topics that arise from students' experiences will be addressed. Students will demonstrate their ability to apply child development and learning theories, help plan, organize, implement daily routines and activities, and work as a team in partnership with families and teachers. This course is an alternative to CHS395V Simulated Intermediate Practicum; students may earn credit for either CHS395 or CHS395V but not both. Please note: The requirement for criminal background checks and fingerprinting is at the sole discretion of the practicum site, following local, state, and federal law. Students are responsible for understanding and meeting any such requirements and possible fees that might be required. 
Prerequisites: CHS 199  or CHS 199V CHS 250 CHS 254 CHS 298  or CHS 298V PSY 201 , minimum 2.50 GPA, and approval of site and supervision arrangements.
