COM 430 - Communicating Across Cultures


3 Credits

This course explores the fundamental concepts and skills of intercultural communication in interpersonal, small group, organizational, and mass media settings.  A mix of theory and practical application, this course examines the influence of culture and its interplay with various communication contexts. Areas of exploration will include Diversity, Equity & Inclusion practices, ideology and power, identity formation, and ally-ship.   Current issues of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and representation will be examined.  By the end of this course, students will acquire the skills and knowledge to be competent cross-cultural communicators.
Prerequisites: COM 208  and COM 335 .
