N 598 - Advanced Practice Nursing Integration


3 Credits

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (2013) state, "NP education provides theoretical and evidence-based clinical knowledge and learning experiences for role development". The emphasis of this course is on the development of clinical and professional expertise necessary for comprehensive primary care in a variety of settings. This course continues to expand theoretical and practical knowledge and challenges the NP student to identify not only current knowledge but also learning opportunities. The student will collaborate to develop new knowledge and share evidence-based, patient-centered care approaches to commonly encountered medical conditions in the primary care environment. The student will develop further knowledge related to health promotion, prevention of illness, diagnosis and management of conditions across the lifespan including behavioral health.   A commitment to self-assessment and collaborative learning prepares students to qualify for national certification in their anticipated area of population-focused practice. 
Prerequisites:  N 585  or N 589 .
