PAD 610 - Public Administration Ethics


3 Credits

Public service is a public trust built on confidence in government institutions and processes. This course provides students with a basic understanding of the historical roots of public sector administrative ethics from which they can develop a framework for identifying and resolving ethical dilemmas that confront today's public administrators. Students will explore the role of ethics codes in promoting accountability and transparency in the profession. The lost legacy of social justice in public administration and the challenges of allocating scarce resources while balancing equity and efficiency in contemporary society will be discussed.
