BUS 522 - Corporate Finance for Managers


3 Credits

The objective of this course is to equip students with the basic corporate finance tools that are necessary for making efficient financial decisions. These practical tools will be applied to day-to-day decisions for both individuals and businesses. The course review important ideas from modern finance theory and develop corporate financial tools needed for valuing investment projects. Topics covered include the time value of money, financial analysis, valuation methods, cost of capital, capital budgeting, risk and return, performing sensitivity and break-even analysis, valuing projects as real options, dividends policy, working capital management and corporate governance. A major portion of the course effort is devoted to studies of an actual real-world situations and solving a corporate finance problem for a public company. Students work in groups to prepare a presentation on its projects.
Prerequisites: BUS 509 .
