EQU 306 - Equine Locomotion

This course is a study of the equine's remarkable ability to move from one place to another. The material develops an appreciation for the normal gaits and their characteristics through a detailed examination of the way the limbs and body work together. Conformation, compensation, and behavior are considered for their effect on the quality of the gaits. The course concludes with a detailed summary analysis of an individual animal's balance and movement through the spectrum of the gaits.
Prerequisites: EQU 251 .
