ELC 201 - Academic Writing I

3 Credits

This course will focus on the fundamentals of academic writing to sharpen students' critical thinking and writing skills, with special attention to reasoning, formulating, and developing arguments and explanations. Additionally, emphasizing the basics of rhetoric, the course will give students practice theorizing and writing for the various audiences they will encounter in college and beyond. Attention will be paid to mechanics, usage, and style, as well as handling and citing sources. All elements of this course will include guidance from an experienced instructor and feedback (peer-review/peer-editing) from fellow students to provide writers with the knowledge to address challenging writing topics.
