CHS 297 - Early Childhood Practicum 2

3 Credits

This second practicum for the Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education combines 25 hours of supervised fieldwork in an approved early childhood setting (birth to age 8) with advanced integrative coursework. To ensure a broader experience, students must select a different age group and setting than their CHS237 practicum. Building on previous coursework and experience, students further develop their ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Professional Standards and Competencies. Topics include ethical decision-making in complex situations and refined teaching strategies. Students will plan and implement activities using industry-recognized methodologies, demonstrating growing proficiency in bridging theory and practice.

Note: Students are responsible for securing their practicum site, subject to University approval. Site-specific requirements, including background checks, fingerprinting, and vaccinations, must be fulfilled. To ensure timely registration, students should initiate the site placement process at least one month before the intended start date. Registration will be finalized only after all requirements are met and practicum arrangements are verified by designated Post University personnel.
Prerequisites or Co-requisites: 24 Child Studies credits, including CHS 237 , and a 2.00 minimum GPA.
