HSV 521 - Family Systems Theory

This course provides an overview of the development of family systems theory as a discipline and the therapeutic approaches that have emerged. The historic development of family systems theory is also explored. Evolving therapeutic models are introduced and contrasted with family systems concepts. In this course, students explore the major family systems theories, methods to diagnosis, treatment interventions and change, and explore cultural differences in family patterns and attitudes toward therapy.
