HSV 593 - Clinical Field Practicum I


3 Credits

The clinical field practicum has a primary focus of students engaging in direct practice with clients in the field in order to develop their clinical counseling skills and the management of counseling sessions. Students are expected to utilize a variety of clinical skills and techniques, explore counseling theories, and conduct client interaction from intake through termination of services. This course synthesizes the knowledge, skills, and dispositions students have gained during prerequisite courses. This course has a required synchronous component that meets weekly.

Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MSCMC):

Master of Science in Counseling and Human Services (MSHSV) Concentrations:

All students seeking enrollment into the clinical field practicum must secure a placement approved by the program and consistent with their degree, concentration, or certificate. Students must earn and maintain a 3.00 GPA to be eligible for enrollment into a field experience. Students must have a site supervisor with approved credentials and have been licensed for two years or more above an associate license (preliminary level).
