Career Development Center (CDC) Mission
The mission of the Career Development Center (CDC) is to support Post students in turning their education into action through personalized coaching, practical resources, connections with alumni and business leaders, and hands-on experiences. We guide students as they explore career options, build confidence, and prepare for internships, job searches, or graduate study. Our goal is to equip every student with the skills, connections, and tools they need, so they are ready not only for their first career steps but also for the opportunities and challenges that follow.
Career Services and Resources
The Career Development Center provides a wide range of resources to support students' career readiness, including assistance with resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, networking strategies, and job search techniques. Students have access to career-related tools and resources through the virtual Career Hub at www.career.post.edu. In addition, the Center offers workshops and hosts both in-person and virtual career events, including career fairs and employer networking opportunities, to connect students with prospective employers and industry professionals. Post University does not guarantee employment. It is the responsibility of graduates to seek and gain employment.
The Career Development Center is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers (EACE). These professional memberships provide the Career Development Center's staff with access to current best practices, research, and industry standards to support comprehensive career coaching services for students.
Internships
Internships are a vital opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience before graduation. Internships are part-time positions that average 10-20 hours per week and occur during a semester or during the summer. Students gain valuable experience and build their resumes while still enrolled in a degree program.
Requirements for Student Internships
The internship must be completed in the student's major. All internships are available to Main Campus and online students at Post University. To receive credit for a student internship, a student must be at least a junior and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5. Students can complete a noncredit-bearing internship at any time during their degree program.
Academic Internship Process
The process of finding an approved internship site will take place one semester or two terms before a student can register for the internship course and start work. While the Career Development Center provides tools and resources to help a student find internships, it is the responsibility of the student to find, apply, and secure an internship. Post University does not guarantee secured internships for students. In addition to speaking with the Program Chair and the Career Development Center, students should meet with their Student Success Advisor to confirm the internship course fits into the academic schedule. Specifics to discuss during the preparation for an internship must include the following: (1) preparing a resume and cover letter to apply for an internship, (2) securing an internship site (3) meeting with the Program Chair to get site approval and a copy of the syllabus, and (4) completing the Internship Eligibility Form and secure all authorized signatures by the Add/Drop deadline.
