This foundational course develops students' critical thinking and communication skills through both written and oral expression. Students learn to organize and convey ideas effectively in academic, professional, and global contexts while building confidence in effective communication. The course emphasizes strategies for managing speaking anxiety, practicing active listening, and using verbal and non-verbal communication to engage diverse audiences. Assignments include reflective, expository, and presentation-based tasks that strengthen clarity, structure, and delivery. Students will also develop strategies for interpreting academic expectations and applying feedback to support success across disciplines.
