BIO 210 - Exercise Physiology 3 Credits
This course provides an in-depth exploration of the physiological principles underlying the body's response to exercise. Students will study the anatomy and function of the muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, and endocrine systems as they relate to physical activity. The course covers energy systems, muscle contraction, cardiovascular and respiratory adaptations, hormonal responses, and recovery mechanisms. Through lectures and hands-on laboratory experiments, students will learn how to assess and monitor fitness levels, measure key physiological variables such as heart rate, VO2 max, and lactate threshold, and understand the physiological adaptations that occur with regular exercise. The course is designed for those interested in pursuing careers in health, fitness, sports science, physical therapy, or nutrition, providing a solid foundation for further study in exercise science.
