Main Campus Undergraduate Admissions Requirements

*Post University Main Campus allows applicants to enroll by providing an attestation confirming high school graduation or equivalent.     Prospective Main Campus students  will receive provisional acceptance based on their high school cumulative grade point average.  Once high schools can provide transcripts, we will confirm the students' acceptance and scholarship packages and adjust if necessary.  Official high school transcripts with proof of high school graduation are required for final acceptance to the University. 
 
Applicants seeking to apply for admissions to a Main Campus undergraduate program must provide a complete admissions application and proof of high school graduation or equivalent.  Post University strongly recommends an admissions interview.   

The following are examples of proof of high school graduation or equivalent:

  • *An official high school transcript with proof of graduation.
  • A copy of Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED), including scores, or certificate issued by the State.
  • A copy of service members' DD214 or Enlisted Records Brief (ERB), showing graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • A copy of service members' Joint Services Transcript (JST), for applicants not applying for federal Title IV aid. Service members applying for federal Title IV aid must provide applicable proof of high school graduation, listed within these requirements.
  • An official home school transcript.
  • An official associate degree transcript.

One of the following forms of documentation is acceptable as proof of high school graduation or equivalent:

  • Official documentation of successful completion of at least 60 semester or trimester credit hours or 72 quarter credit hours that does not result in an associate degree, but is acceptable toward a bachelor's degree at any institution.  
  • Official documentation of enrollment in a bachelor's degree program with at least 60 semester or trimester hours or 72 quarter credit hours successfully completed, including credits transferred into the bachelor's degree program.

An applicant whose transcript shows less than a 2.00 cumulative grade point average must submit a personal statement for review by the Provost. High school seniors in courses still in progress must provide current transcripts of work through the date of application.

*Under certain circumstances an unofficial transcript or alternative documentation is acceptable if the Chief Regulatory Officer approves it. Other forms of acceptable documentation include, but are not limited to, an unofficial high school transcript or an unofficial associate degree transcript.

Admissions Interview

We encourage applicants to visit the campus and meet with an Admissions Advisor in person. If a visit is not possible, the Admissions Advisor will schedule a telephone interview with the applicant.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT) Submission

Post University recommends but does not require applicants to submit the results of an official SAT or ACT.

English and Math Course Placement: Main Campus Students

English Course Placement

First year Main Campus students are asked to complete an English placement test prior to attending a summer registration day. Their achievement on the English placement test assesses whether students should be placed into either ENG 107: The Power of Words or ENG 110: College Writing. Students who do not take the English placement test will be automatically placed into ENG 107 during their first semester.

*Both ENG 107 and ENG 110 will count as three credit courses on a student's degree plan.

Math Course Placement

First year Main Campus students are asked to complete a math placement exam prior to attending a summer registration day. Their achievement on the Math placement exam helps the math faculty identify the correct MAT course placement.

Main Campus Honors Program Admissions Requirements

Admission to the Honors Program is highly selective.  For consideration to the Honors Program, applicants must have a high school or college GPA of at least 3.25. In addition, applicants must complete the Honors Program Application and submit a short writing sample and provide two written recommendations from teachers, counselors, coaches, and/or employers.

Main Campus Graduate Admissions Requirements

Post University offers an on-campus graduate degree in Master of Business Administration. The program is offered in an accelerated format and is taught by scholarly practitioners. Classes will run provided there is a minimum enrollment for each program.

Applicants seeking to apply for admission to the Main Campus graduate program must provide a complete admissions application and proof of undergraduate graduation or equivalent.  Post University strongly recommends an admissions interview.   

Application for Graduate Admissions

All graduate applicants for admission (e.g., transfer, Military, international) must submit an application to the Office of Admissions and return other required materials to the address below. Along with submitting an application, applicants will need to:

  •  Have official transcripts from all colleges/universities sent to the address below.
  •  If an applicant's GPA is below a 3.0, they will be asked to provide a personal statement describing qualifications for Post University's graduate program (250-500 words typed).
  •  Submission of a letter of recommendation; this can be academic or professional.
  •  International graduate applicants are required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. TOEFL scores should be 80 or higher. IELTS scores should be 6.5 or higher.
  •  Transfer applicants may be eligible to transfer in up to 9 credits from an accredited graduate program.

Accelerated Degree Program Admissions Requirements

Students are encouraged to complete the Professional College Advisory Session and have a telephone interview with their admissions advisor. In some instances, a video interview may be required.

An applicant seeking to apply for admissions to an Accelerated Degree Program online undergraduate program must be a high school graduate or meet one of the following requirements:

  • Possess a General Education Development (GED) certificate or state-specific equivalent diploma.
  • Possess a home study certificate or transcript from a home study program that is equivalent to high school level and recognized by the applicant's home state, and they must be beyond the age of compulsory attendance in that state.

Post University will accept attestation as proof of graduation. Prospective nursing students have different requirements. Please refer to Accelerated Degree Program - American Sentinel School of Nursing Admissions Policy for more details. In addition to attestation Post University may request any proof of graduation as outlined by the U. S. Department of Education.

Types of documentation include:

  • An official high school transcript with proof of graduation. 
  • A copy of Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED), including scores, or certificate issued by the State. 
  • A copy of service members' Joint Services Transcript (JST), for applicants not applying for Federal Title IV Financial Aid. Service members applying for Federal Title IV Aid must provide applicable proof of high school graduation, listed within these requirements. 
  • Copy of a high school diploma.  
  • An official home school transcript. 
  • An official associate degree transcript. 
  • Official documentation of successful completion of at least 60 semester or trimester credit hours or 72 quarter credit hours that does not result in an associate degree but is acceptable toward a bachelor's degree at any institution. 
  • Official documentation of enrollment in a bachelor's degree program with at least 60 semester or trimester hours or 72 quarter credit hours successfully completed, including credits transferred into the bachelor's degree program.

Post University relies on the student's attestation of high school completion and will not mandate a separate document for all students. 

If for any reason, the attestation of high school graduation or GED completion is false, the student will not have met an admissions requirement and will no longer be a regular student and will be subject to immediate dismissal.  Further, if the attestation is false or untrue, Post University may return disbursements of Title IV financial aid and state or institutional financial aid on the student's behalf to the appropriate source. The student will be responsible to Post University for all money it may refund.

New students should engage in a phone conversation with the student finance department to review their financial plan. This conversation consists of reviewing overall costs and payment methods, and if applicable, Title IV federal financial aid eligibility. 

New students should also complete orientation in Blackboard prior to starting their first course.

Failure to engage in the phone conversation with the student finance department and/or not completing orientation may result in the cancellation of registration of classes.

English Course Placement
First year online (ADP) students are asked to complete an English placement test. Their achievement on the English placement test assesses whether students should be placed into either ENG 107: The Power of Words or ENG 110: College Writing.   • An official transcript with a conferred bachelor's degree in a related field.  Bachelor's degree can be in any field, not necessarily a related field. (See Chart Below for Details)
  • An official graduate degree transcript will be acceptable in lieu of a bachelor's degree transcript.
  • Students are encouraged to complete the Professional College Advisory Session and have a telephone interview with their admissions advisor.  In some instances, a video interview may be required.  

In addition to the above requirements, applicants with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher must provide:

  • One letter of recommendation required, 2 suggested.

In addition to the above requirements, applicants with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of less than 3.00 must provide:

  • One letter of recommendation required, 2 suggested.
  • A personal statement.
  • Permission from the Dean.

Master of Business Administration

Bachelor of Science in a business-related degree.  A student with a Bachelor of Science in a non-business field must take BUS502 Business Essentials or four undergraduate prerequisite courses - ACC111, ECO201, FIN201 and LAW204. Students with a Bachelor of Science in a business field receive a waiver for BUS502. Please contact a Graduate Admissions Representative for details.

Master of Business Administration in Healthcare follows the program specific requirements under "American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Sciences Admission Requirements"

Master of Science Accounting

Bachelor of Science in Accounting or a Bachelor of Science in a non-accounting field and the successful completion of 3 semester credits in Financial or Managerial Accounting.  Students interested in becoming a CPA, please contact a graduate Admissions Advisor for details.

Master of Science in Counseling and Human Services

For applicants with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher, one year of full-time work and/or volunteer experience. For applicants with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.50-2.99, three years or more of full-time experience. For applicants with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.00-2.49, five years or more of full-time experience.

In addition to the requirements stated above, the programs listed in the chart below have additional experiential admissions requirements. Post University feels strongly that students possessing real world experience elevate course and program dialogue and lead to a more meaningful learning experience. Relevant experience encompasses anything from part- or full-time employment to internships, research projects, and publications. Applicants with less work experience, but otherwise exceptional applications will receive consideration for admission. Students must provide resumes, transcripts, or other acceptable documentation to support the experiential requirements. Your Admissions Advisor will provide additional information on the types of experiential experiences that are acceptable.

American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences Admission Requirements

Applicants to the nursing and healthcare programs must submit the following:

  • A completed application.
  • Driver's license or state-issued ID.  The driver's licenses or state-issued IDs of the students seeking enrollment in any of the nurse practitioner specializations must match the state indicated on the application showing residence in an approved state.
  • A copy of the applicant's active and unencumbered United States RN license.  If the applicant does not hold an unencumbered United States RN license, they may submit a Validation of Licensure Report that shows evidence they have the appropriate authorization to practice as a professional registered nurse in the geographic area in which they work. CGFNS International is an agency that can provide acceptable documentation. This may vary by program or specialization.
  • Official transcripts from each post-secondary institution(s) attended. Prior nursing education must be from a state board approved school of nursing, hospital school of nursing, or an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree nursing program accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the United States Department of Education. The institution(s) must send the transcripts directly to Post University.  
  • Applicants may submit unofficial copies for evaluation and acceptance. However, they must contain proof of minimum degree conferral or completion and minimum grade point average (GPA). If the unofficial transcript does not have completion or conferral status, the applicant must also provide a copy of their diploma. The Registrar's Office must receive official copies of transcripts with degree conferral or completion date and minimum GPA by the end of the first 8-week term. If the applicant fails to submit such official documents on time, they cannot start future courses until the receipt of official transcripts, and subsequently withdrawn for failing to provide them.
  • Official copies of transcripts with degree conferral date, transfer credit, and minimum GPA must be received by the Registrar's Office after initial registration into a SIMPath semester. If the applicant fails to submit such official documents on time, they will be disallowed from registering for any additional SIMPath courses until the official transcripts are received.

Master of Science Nursing degree program (if no Master of Science Nursing degree, additional transcripts from Bachelor of Science Nursing) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

In addition to the items above, applicants to all nursing and healthcare programs except for the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing and RN-BSN/MSN programs, single courses, or digital credentials must submit a résumé, curriculum vitae, or list of professional accomplishments.

Applicants with a cumulative grade point average less than the minimum requirements above; must provide: 

  • One letter of recommendation required, two suggested. 

  • Resume, curriculum vitae, or list of professional accomplishments. 

  • Submit a personal 300-word statement discussing in separate paragraphs how each of the three items below apply to the applicant and their potential career in the medical field: 

    • Why this program is a good fit for the applicant's interests and academic goals. 
    • The applicant's plans for balancing work, school, and life include information like using a calendar/schedule carving out specific time, etc., or other strategies the applicant will use to manage their life's activities.   
    • The applicant's future career goals and how the program will help you achieve these goals. 
  • Permission from the Dean or Dean's designee. 

Applicants Educated Outside the United States

Please note that applicants educated outside the United States will need to provide an Academic Report from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member organization, Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.(AICE) member organization, The Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals (TAICEP) member organization, or the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) certificate stating that the nursing education the applicant received meets the GPA requirements as noted in the table above and that the education is comparable to that obtained by a graduate of a United States nursing school. To receive transfer credits for courses from institutions outside the United States, the applicant must provide an approved NACES, AICE, TAICEP or CGFNS course-by-course academic evaluation report.  Submission of this report must be at the time of evaluation for consideration of the transfer credits.

Master of Science Nursing Nurse - Nurse Practitioner Specializations

Admission to the Master of Science Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Specialization requires a minimum of one year of full-time work experience in a nursing clinical role in the last three years. The applicant's resume or curriculum vitae should reflect this work experience.

A student in one of the Nurse Practitioner Specializations must reside and hold an active unencumbered RN license in an approved Nurse Practitioner Specialization state. A student may only participate in clinical activities in approved Nurse Practitioner Specialization states in which they also hold active unencumbered licenses, see Practitioner Disclosure by State. Prior specialization approvals are a requirement to attend clinical activities in a state in which the student does not have a primary residence.

Applicants must complete or transfer in the 3P courses (N512, N521, and N522PE) and pass an APEA 3P exam before official acceptance into a Nurse Practitioner Specialization. To sit for the 3P Exam, applicants must achieve a 3.0 GPA in the 3P courses.  Students must maintain clinical compliance throughout the Master of Science Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Specialization program.  This includes all annual updates for ALL requirements.  Students cannot register for any Nurse Practitioner Specialization courses (other than 3P courses) or accrue clinical hours unless all components are up to date. 

Consistent with applicable law, this includes:

Students cannot continue or enroll in the Nurse Practitioner Specializations, with two failed scores on the 3P Exam or a failing grade for the N523 course regardless of repeat 3P Exam score. Failure to achieve the minimum benchmark score or successful completion of N523 will result in an academic withdrawal from the Nurse Practitioner Specializations.

Master of Business Administration - Healthcare

RN license is not a requirement.

Infection Prevention and Control Certificate  RN license is not a requirement.  

Doctor of Nursing Practice

Students must secure availability and access/permission to an acceptable location/site to fulfill the program's practice experience and DNP project requirements of the program. Unemployed applicants must verify access to a suitable work environment (a healthcare facility) to complete classroom assignments.

Informatics Specialization requires a minimum one-year full-time work experience in an informatics nursing role during the last 5 years. This experience should include integrating nursing science with various information systems and analytical decision support processes to manage, coordinate and communicate data in nursing practice. Technological experience with one process is not sufficient to meet the Informatics Specialization requirement.   

Students must complete 400 hours of post-baccalaureate practice hours and 600 practice hours to complete the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.  Proof of completion of the 400 post-baccalaureate hours is a requirement before registration into N740E.  Applicants receiving a place in a Practicum Workroom supports their completion of the required 400 practice hours.  Additional fees apply to completion of these practice hours.  

Early Admission to the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science Nursing Program (RN to BSN) or Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Master of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN/MSN)

Early admission to the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science Nursing Program (RN to BSN) or Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Master of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN/MSN) is for applicants currently enrolled in an associate degree and diploma nursing programs seeking to begin the program before passing the NCLEX-RN® Exam and within six months of anticipated graduation date.  The following are the requirements for admission into the early admission program:     

  • Enroll within six months of an anticipated graduation date from an associate degree or diploma in nursing program and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Submit an unofficial transcript reflecting a 2.0 GPA in the current associate degree program.
  • Have not yet taken the NCLEX-RN® Exam.
  • Submit a professional statement including plans to take the NCLEX-RN®  Exam and plan for success in the RN to BSN program.

With the Dean's or their designee's approval, applicants will receive admittance to an Early Admissions Bachelor of Science Nursing Non-Degree Seeking enrollment. Students admitted under this policy may take only one course at a time and may earn a maximum of six credits (BSN405 and BSN410). After completing the non-degree seeking enrollment, students must apply for the RN to Bachelor of Science Nursing program after completing an associate of science nursing or diploma nursing program and passing the NCLEX-RN® Exam.  Students who fail to meet the associate degree or diploma and NCLEX requirements are not eligible to continue into the RN to Bachelor of Science Nursing program.  

Additional Doctoral Program Considerations

If the master's degree requirement for admission to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is in a discipline other than nursing, the applicant receives consideration for entrance into program in the Executive Leadership or Informatics Leadership Specializations only using one of two options that appear below.  Both options require completion of 400 hours of post-baccalaureate practice hours in addition to the 600 practice hours required to complete the DNP degree.

Option A - Students earn an MSN degree upon completion of all MSN requirements.

The applicant's graduate degree transcripts will receive an evaluation to determine any deficiencies against the MSN program.  Any deficiencies will result in the creation of a degree plan that includes courses required for the MSN program that did not receive transfer credit. Examples of these courses include:

  • N512 Advanced Pathophysiology (3 credits)
  • N515PE Research Design (3 credits)
  • N521 Advanced Pharmacology (3 credits)
  • N522PE Advanced Physical Assessment (3 credits)

In addition to the courses above, students must complete 400 practice hours.

Upon successful completion of 36 credit hours (minimum 18 credits in residence and 18 additional graduate-level transfer credits) students receive a MSN and admittance into the DNP program.

Students in this option have successfully completed 1000 post-baccalaureate practice hours when they receive their DNP degree.

Option B - Students do not earn an MSN degree upon completion of all DNP program Executive Leadership or Informatics Specialization requirements.

Applicants must complete a three-course bridge program and 400 practice hours:

  • N501PE MSN Role Development (3 credits)
  • N505PE Theoretical Foundations (3 credits)
  • N515PE Research Design (3 credits)

Applicants must complete the bridge courses and the 400 practice hours before registering for N740PE DNP Project I. Students enter a Practicum Workroom, which supports their completion of the required 400 practice hours. Additional fees apply to completion of these practicum hours.

Upon completion of the bridge courses and all requirements of the DNP program, students receive a DNP degree. Students in this option have successfully completed 1000 post-baccalaureate practice hours before they receive their DNP degree.

Post Eagle (Military) Program Additional Admissions Requirements

Post University military benefits extend to active duty, reservists, and veterans of the Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserves, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy and their eligible family members and civilian employees of the Department of Defense. Online and Main Campus requirements are as follows:

  1. Active-duty service members must provide a Joint Service Transcript (JST), Community College of the Air Force (CCAF), active-duty orders, or a current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES).
  2. Honorably discharged veterans must provide DD214, including an honorable or general discharge under honorable conditions. Students providing a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) can use this in lieu of a DD214.  In some circumstances, a letter verifying the veteran's status from the Department of Veterans Affairs may be accepted.
  3. Eligible dependents of active and honorably discharged service members 24 years of age and under who are not married or have children must provide qualifying service members JST, CCAF, active-duty orders, LES or DD214 and a copy of their birth certificate to prove the relationship. Students utilizing benefits can provide a Certificate of Eligibility (C0E) in lieu of DD214.  In some circumstances, a letter verifying veteran status from the Department of Veterans Affairs may be accepted.
  4. Eligible spouses of active and honorably discharged service members who are currently married must provide qualifying service members JST, CCAF, active-duty orders, LES or DD214, and marriage certificates.  Students utilizing benefits can provide a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) in lieu of a DD214.  In some circumstances, a letter verifying veteran status from the Department of Veterans Affairs may be accepted. 
  5. Department of Defense and Department of Veteran Affairs civilians must provide employment verification or a current paystub. 

International Admissions Requirements 

Post University welcomes international applicants.  All documentation required for admissions must be submitted to the Office of International Admissions.  Prospective international applicants seeking enrollment must submit an application and copies of official secondary and/or college transcripts.  All foreign documents must be in English and receive an evaluation to ensure the applicant meets United States educational standards. English proficiency test scores may need to be submitted as part of the admissions application process.

Application Materials

  • Completed application.
  • Transcripts from high school (if applying for an associate or bachelor's program) and all colleges attended translated into English.
  • Proof of English proficiency (if required.)

English Proficiency

International applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency for admission into associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral-level degree programs by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson, or Duolingo scores.  Cambridge scores may also be submitted for bachelor programs. The following chart provides the minimum scores required for the designated degree-level admission.

Undergraduate and graduate applicants from a country where the native language is English and who have attended an English-speaking school are exempt from providing proof of English proficiency. These countries include:

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec, which is institution-specific), Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Singapore, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Post University will determine the applicant's citizenship based on the country which issues the passport.

A student will  also be exempt from providing proof of English proficiency if they have:

  • Attended (2 or more years) and graduated from a high school in the United States before admissions (high school transcripts required.)
  • Transferred from college or university in the United States with at least 15 academic credits and a 2.00 GPA in good standing (official college or university transcripts required.)

Post University cannot process an admissions application without the English proficiency results if they are required.

Students not meeting the English proficiency level for admittance may be accepted into Post University's English Language Institute.  Students placed in the English Language Institute Intensive English Program take English as a Second Language courses that range from beginner to advanced level. Students may take up to 12 credits of English as a Second Language courses and apply them toward a Post University degree.

Student Visa Requirements and F-1 Process for Main Campus Students

Students accepted as  Main Campus students will be issued an I-20 for their program of study.  Once accepted, to obtain a Form I-20, the applicant must provide:

  • A copy of the passport information page with a photograph.
  • A completed Declaration of Finances form.
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources through bank statements, letter of government scholarship award, or letter of employer sponsorship.

The date of the financial documentation must be within six (6) months of the time of submission.

Applicants must be accepted for admission before Post University is permitted under federal guidelines to issue an I-20 for a visa appointment.  

Nursing Students Requirement

Applicants who were educated outside of the United States must provide an academic report (evaluation) showing their nursing education was taught in English and is comparable to one earned in the United States. This report must also show the student earned a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for the Bachelor of Science Nursing program and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the Master of Science Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.  A certificate from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) is unacceptable unless it shows all the requirements above.

Transfer of I-20

International students wishing to transfer to Post University as Main Campus students must request an I-20 transfer from their current institution once the student has been accepted. The I-20 must be in active status for Post University to accept the I-20 transfer. Applicants must then submit all required documents to allow Post University to issue an I-20 at Post University. (See above: Student Visa Requirements and F-1 Process for Main Campus Students.)

Transfer Credits

Applicants requesting consideration for transfer credits from institutions outside the United States must submit an evaluation from an accredited transcript evaluation organization, which includes a course-by-course academic report. The evaluation report is required by the end of the first term (or semester for Main Campus students) of the student's attendance for the transfer credits to be considered.

Post University Student Health Form

Before the applicant's arrival on campus, all Main Campus applicants must submit a completed Health Form to and receive approval from Post University's Health Services Director.  The Health Form must confirm that all required immunizations are in place. Students must also have a completed health form and be approved by the Post University's Health Services Director to move into a residence hall and attend class. Readmission

Students with unpaid balances must resolve any outstanding issues prior to requesting readmission. Resumption of enrollment or readmission is at the discretion of Post University and is subject to any imposed conditions.

Readmission after Withdrawal

Students seeking readmission who have been inactive (not enrolled in a course) for greater than one (1) year and military students exceeding the 6-month grace period after an approved military leave must reapply by following the admission process and satisfy all current admission criteria for their program. Students seeking readmission who have been inactive for greater than two years must fulfill the degree requirements of their major as they appear in the current catalog. If, for any reason, the University dismisses the student, the Admissions Committee will review the application for readmission, and the applicant may have to submit an appeal form and documentation.

Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Specialization Readmission

Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner Specialization student reenrollments receive a review by the Dean and Director of the program. Students may need to repeat select core and Nurse Practitioner Specialization population-focused courses that allow for reengagement into the curriculum. Clinical hours receive a review to determine if hours need repeating depending on the timing of the reenrollment.

Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Readmission

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student reenrollments receive a review by the Dean or designee for courses that may transfer. Students may need to repeat select core courses that allow for reengagement of the DNP project.  

Readmission after Dismissal

Students dismissed for failing to meet satisfactory academic progress may apply for readmission one year from the date of dismissal or after one parent term. Please refer to the Dismissal Policy.  Students seeking readmission in an undergraduate program must meet the current application requirements, provide all current documentation, and deliver a letter requesting readmission providing details as to why they will be successful if allowed to return to study. Students seeking readmission to a graduate program of study will receive an evaluation on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director of the program.  An appeal to the Dean may be necessary. For programs without a Program Director, the readmission decision rests with the Dean.  The student may appeal the Dean's decision to the Provost.

Readmitted students may have to participate in academic improvement plans as designed by the Program Director of the program or Dean as part of the readmission process. The academic improvement plans provide for conditional admission for the students' next two terms or one semester.  Dismissal from their programs of study with no appeal option occurs if students violate their academic improvement plans.  Students dismissed for breach of the Civility Code or the Academic Integrity Policy are not eligible to apply for readmission.

If readmitted, nursing students must follow the catalog in effect at the time of their reenrollment.  If required courses from previous program versions are no longer in the program at reenrollment, the appropriate Dean may designate a reasonable substitute.

 Undergraduate Certificate Programs Admissions Requirements

Applicants to an undergraduate certificate program must meet and maintain the same admissions criteria appropriate to the program of study that grants the certificate.

Graduate Certificate Programs Admissions Requirements

Applicants to a graduate certificate program must meet and maintain the same admissions criteria appropriate to the program of study that grants the certificate with the exception to the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Certificate. IPC Certificate applicants must have a bachelor's degree in a health care-related field (public health, nursing, dietetics, microbiology etc.) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), as shown on the applicant's college transcript. IPC Certificate students must meet all other admission requirements stated in the Master of Science Nursing admissions requirements except for the degree requirements and the RN License requirement.  The Graduate Certificate in Professional Counseling requires students to have already earned 21 graduate credits.  

Applicants may not transfer any credits into a certificate program.

Applicants applying to any of the counseling programs, the TELL certificate, or Texas students applying to the Master of Science in Accounting must speak to a Credentialing Specialist and sign a disclaimer. 

Non-degree Seeking Status Admissions

Students who choose not to matriculate into a degree program are termed non-degree seeking students.  Non-degree seeking students who wish to take an undergraduate or graduate course at the 300-level or above must seek approval from the Dean of the course requested.  Only degree seeking students are eligible to take practicum, clinical, and internship courses.

Non-degree seeking students may accumulate up to 6 credits for undergraduate and graduate level courses. If said student prefers to accumulate additional credit, they may by Dean approval.  

Should non-degree seeking students later choose to matriculate into a degree program, they are required to meet all admissions requirements for their program.

This policy does not apply to High School Academy or University Pathways students.
