Academic Advisors and Academic Success Counselors

Main Campus Academic Advisors

Undergraduate and graduate students attending the Main Campus are assigned to an Academic Advisor when they first enroll.  The Advising Office works with students throughout the school year to ensure that they are meeting their goals both academically and personally.  Advising is a great resource to all students and can provide them with the tools necessary to be successful in and out of the classroom.  Advisors work closely with the faculty regarding student performance and concerns that may occur during the semester.  Academic Advisors are the students' main point of contact and should expect regular communications regarding academic progress, registration, and related matters.  Students are expected to connect with their Academic Advisor at least twice per semester to discuss their progress and go over any questions or academic concerns they may have.  If students need immediate assistance they are directed to e-mail [email protected]. The Advising Office is located on the first floor of Torrance Hall.

Accelerated Degree Program Academic Success Counselors

Undergraduate students enrolling in online programs are assigned to New Student Academic Success Counselors when they first enroll.  The New Student Academic Success Counselors work closely with the Admissions Team, as well as with the associates delivering the Frist Year Experience Program, to assist students who may face academic challenges. Once students complete their first 3 terms, they move to work with a program/school based Academic Success Counselor.

Transfer and graduate students work directly with their Academic Success Counselors in their specific major or school. Academic Success Counselors are directly linked to different majors and are well-versed in the different program expectations. Students should consider their Academic Success Counselor their main point of contact and should expect regular communications regarding academic progress, registration, and related matters. Students are expected to connect with their Academic Success Counselor at least once per term to discuss their progress and go over any questions or academic concerns they may have. If students need immediate assistance, they can call 203.591.7112 or e-mail [email protected]. Students enrolled in courses within American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Science will reach out to 303.557.9830 or [email protected].

American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Science

Nursing students enrolling in online programs within the American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Science will be directly assigned to Student Success Advisor upon enrollment. These advisors provide information about academic programs, help students make informed decisions and refer students to appropriate resources. Students are encouraged to consult their Student Success Advisor any time, whether they experience academic difficulty or personal issues or are considering withdrawing from the university. The Student Success Advisor will also be notified by the deans and faculty members when a student appears to be experiencing academic difficulty as evidenced by substandard performance in a course. The Student Success Advisor will invite the student for a conference to determine the cause of the difficulty and to create a viable plan to improve the student's performance. This plan may include academic and counseling assistance. The student is ultimately responsible for seeking adequate academic advice, meeting degree requirements, and attending courses to ensure progress toward the degree
